Candlestick Patterns · Bullish
Morning Star
A long bearish candle, a small candle, then a bullish candle closing into the first body.
Selling slows on the middle candle. The third candle closes back up into the first candle's body.
This is an example of how traders often plan the pattern. It is not a promise that price will reach the target.
Identification
- Candle one is a long bearish candle.
- Candle two has a small body and can gap down.
- Candle three is bullish and closes above the midpoint of candle one.
Market context
The middle candle is the stall. Without the third candle closing back up, there is no morning star.
Entry example
An example entry is above the third candle's high.
Stop-loss example
An example stop is below the lowest low of the three candles.
Target example
An example target is the open of the first candle.
Common mistakes
- Counting two candles and skipping the confirming third close.
