Candlestick Patterns · Bullish
Bullish Kicker
A bearish candle followed by a bullish candle that gaps up and does not overlap.
The second candle opens above the prior candle's range and continues higher. The gap is the defining feature.
This is an example of how traders often plan the pattern. It is not a promise that price will reach the target.
Identification
- The first candle is bearish.
- The second candle is bullish.
- The second candle gaps above the first candle and the ranges do not overlap.
Market context
Kickers are rare. A small gap that still overlaps the prior wick is not this pattern.
Entry example
An example entry is a hold above the gap, or a break of the second candle's high.
Stop-loss example
An example stop is back inside the gap, below the second candle's open.
Target example
An example target is a measured move of the second candle added to the break.
Common mistakes
- Labeling a normal gap-up that still overlaps the prior high.
