Candlestick Patterns · Bearish
Bearish Kicker
A bullish candle followed by a bearish candle that gaps down and does not overlap.
The second candle opens below the prior range and continues lower. The unfilled gap separates it from a normal bearish candle.
This is an example of how traders often plan the pattern. It is not a promise that price will reach the target.
Identification
- The first candle is bullish.
- The second candle is bearish.
- The ranges do not overlap.
Market context
Like the bullish version, this is uncommon. Most down candles are not kickers.
Entry example
An example entry is a break of the second candle's low.
Stop-loss example
An example stop is back above the second candle's open, inside the gap.
Target example
An example target is the next prior low.
Common mistakes
- Ignoring that the gap must stay open for the pattern to remain intact.
