Candlestick Patterns · Bearish
Bearish Abandoned Baby
A bullish candle, a gap-up doji, then a bearish candle that gaps down.
The doji sits alone above the two neighbors. The third candle gaps away from it and closes down.
This is an example of how traders often plan the pattern. It is not a promise that price will reach the target.
Identification
- The middle candle is a doji gapped above the first candle.
- The third candle gaps below the doji and closes bearish.
- The doji does not overlap either neighbor.
Market context
The isolation is the whole pattern. Overlap turns it into a different star pattern.
Entry example
An example entry is below the third candle.
Stop-loss example
An example stop is above the isolated doji.
Target example
An example target is the open of the first candle.
Common mistakes
- Naming any evening doji star an abandoned baby.
